“Our standardized test scores have improved steadily since you have been working with us,” said Adelaide Dusabeyezu, headmistress at the APACOPE school. “Look at the progress over the past four years,” she said running her fingers over the print-outs scattered about her desk. “You can see that we when we started with you, we were testing in the 40th percentile. The technology and teacher training are making a big difference’” she said. “Certainly impressive,” said Steve Hays Connect Rwanda’s founder.
Adelaide, the headmistress at our partner school APACOPE (Association of Parents for the Contribution and Promotion of Education) in Kigali, Rwanda has been a stalwart in our partnership development. Only headmistress of the primary (elementary school) a couple of years ago, her talents and hard work rewarded with a promotion to the school’s top position. She has been an incredible joy to work with, and certainly admired by the U.S. teachers that were in Rwanda this past Summer.
The improvement in standardized test scores speaks volumes for the progress at APACOPE. Special thanks to the Annapolis teachers that spent their Summer in Kigali participating in the teacher collaboration.
